Return Genesis 16:7-11 w/ Brooke Wilson

7 Now the angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur. 8 He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from and where are you going?” And she said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.” 9 Then the angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself to her authority.” 10 Moreover, the angel of the Lord said to her, “I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be too many to count.” 11 The angel of the Lord said to her further,

“Behold, you are with child,

And you will bear a son;

And you shall call his name Ishmael,

Because the Lord has given heed to your affliction.

Genesis 16: 7-11 NASB

But the angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, on the road to (Egypt by way of) Shur. And He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where did you come from and where are you going?” And she said, “I am running away from my mistress Sarai.” The Angel of the Lord said, “Go back to your mistress and submit humbly to her authority.” Then the Angel of the Lord said,  “I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be too many to count.” The Angel of the Lord continued, “Behold, you are with child,

And you will bear a son;

And you shall name him Ishmael (God hears),

Because the Lord has heard and paid attention to your persecution (suffering).

Genesis 16:7-11 Amp

An angel of God found her beside a spring in the desert; it was the spring on the road to Shur. He said, “Hagar, maid of Sarai, what are you doing here?”

She said, “I’m running away from Sarai my mistress.”

The angel of God said, “Go back to your mistress. Put up with her abuse.” He continued, “I’m going to give you a big family, children past counting.

From this pregnancy, you’ll get a son: Name him Ishmael;

    for God heard you, God answered you.

He’ll be a bucking bronco of a man,

    a real fighter, fighting and being fought,

Always stirring up trouble,

    always at odds with his family.”
